I was very fortunate in that as a child I was allowed to make mud pies, and thus began my love of art. As my creativity developed my mud pies turned into bunny sculptures. The texture was delicious. Later, I dabbled in oil paints and in high school was introduced to watercolor, I loved how the paint hit the wet paper and burst out where it wanted to go! Magical! Every painting is an adventure.
As an adult, to continue developing my skills, I have had the privilege to study with local artist, Diane Wallace, and nationally recognized watercolorists Mel Stabin, Tom Lynch, and Mary Whyte.
Teaching has always been a part of my life as well. I now have over 15 years of experience teaching art to children and adults, and have studied Early Childhood Education, Art Methods and became a licensed Monart art teacher with Mona Brooks of Monart.
I currently offer classes to children and adults through my home studio, Karen's Art Zone.
Here at Karen's Art Zone we teach the elements of art and the principles of design we also teach color mixing and perspective. Students are encouraged to develop their own creativity and explore a variety of media.
